The site is the depository of Sonnie's thoughts– ramblings, reflections and anecdotes on entrepreneurship, career and corporate life– i.e. work-life balance, office politics, spiritual intelligence. Excerpts and useful informations freely circulating the net may also find its place in this blog.
The mission of this site is to add value to blogging thru :
* Blogs that recognize God and the principles He set in this world * Blogs that impart leadership and management principles * Blogs that motivate and encourage. * Blogs that prompt self introspection. * Bogs that impart success principles. * Blogs that promote Corporate and Personal Social Responsibility. * Blogs that advocate work-life-balance. * Blogs that impart HR Principles (Human Resources Management) to non HR. * Blogs that advocate love for the Philippines. * Blogs about (customer) experiences from product/service providers in the Philippines and beyond. * Blogs that share positive stories, movie/book and other reviews, jokes and anecdotes that will make readers reflect, feel good and smile.
This site, likewise, is envisioned to be a pillar or porch where professionals and entrepreneurs exchange views and speak their minds to sharpen each others saw.
History:
About two years ago, having observed and experienced the dynamics of corporate politics and power play, the obstacles facing young professionals and entrepreneurs, and the choices they made, the blogger started a yahoo group with the purpose of exchanging positive messages to encourage each other in traversing the corporate jungle. A fellow moderator introduced the concept of blog and cross+roads, hosted at blogspot, finds it’s place in the blogosphere. Lacking knowledge on css, html and other geek stuffs, the blog did not reach its full potential.
Afterwards, an e-friend introduced this blogger to Multiply. Thus, Solomon’s Kiosk was born. This blog is more personal in nature because it served as platform of this blogger to share pictures, music and other stuffs. Multiply is much easier to customize and this blogger gained some knowledge on css and html.
Wordpress.com was discovered by this blogger, and out of curiosity, started Sonnie’s Porch. With the growing number of readers from the blogs, this blogger planned to have his own domain and began to window shop. The 2nd Blog Summit held at U.P. provided an opportunity for this blogger to further explore the Philippine Blogosphere. There, he became aware of the .com.ph campaign thru the blog of Angelo. He submitted Sonnie’s Porch for evaluation hoping it can be a recipient of the free .com.ph domain. Not long after that, Sonnie’s Porch transferred to its new home, from http://skopun.wordpress.com, it moved to http://sesantos.com.ph , courtesy of Enthropia.
Inspiration:
Inspired by the ancient wisdom embraced by the likes of King Solomon, issues on leadership and management, human capital, personal effectiveness, relationships, health, life, national issues and God are explored to align in our modern situation and urban lifestyle.
“Treasure WISDOM and it will make you great; hold on to it and it will bring you honor.” — Prov. 4:8 (NCV)
